Puppet!

I was pondering the streets of Norwich when I came along this beauty of a busker being inventive and eye-catching and I knew that I had to film him. He was such a lovely man and I don't think he fully understood me when I started to talk about my blog but I gave him my card nonetheless.

When I was filming him, a lot of people started to walk around me as if I was his official cameralady which I felt was a bit odd and I felt sorry for the guy cause I was distracting people from; 1. his amazing lil show and 2. putting money in his baby violin case. All the same he is one of the few buskers that I witness actually make people stop and stare and this is most definitely down to his uniquness. So maybe that's the case why people don't look at buskers anymore is because they've seen it all before.

I still stick by the notion that society would rather stop and watch t.v than real life free performances by people who are brave enough to put themselves out there.

My first Busker Encounter

Today I interviewed my first busker, I felt a bit foolish and I'm sure he thought I was very weird. Darren the Busker as I shall call him was very nice and had a lovely voice. It felt at some points as I was filming him busking that people were more interested in what I was doing than he was. Nowadays a lot of people are threatened by the sight of a camera but I can assure you I mean no harm and the camera stays.

I have actually attempted to edit this one to the best of my abilities but my laptop is very shoddy and slow so it takes a whole of patience to get through the clips. Even so I present another video clip of a busking in the streets of Norwich.

Exhibition

This week at Uni we've had a sort of end of year exhibition for our course to showcase what we've done and to always demonstrate how we cope in a professional environment. I whacked out the camera to film how it went, nothing special just showing everyone's work and the turnout at the end of it.

I was very pleased with the amount of people that came and equally enjoyed the nibbles.

Spying on Buskers

Today I was taking a look at a busker who I thought was very entertaining unfortunately it seemed to me that nobody else was as interested and it got me thinking about how of lot of people choose to ignore a lot of what goes on around them and are also always in a hurry. I, however, took the time to take a video and made sure that I got the passer-bys in as well to demonstrate how little they cared for this free performance.

What also caught my eye was the fact that I had seen this busker a few weeks earlier in Brighton and really loved his performance. This time thankfully I had my camera on me so here he is. Didn't grab a name, sorry

My visit to the Barbican, London Art Gallery

I went on a lil trip to the Barbican Art Gallery in the holidays to check out an artist that I really enjoy, to see what he had to offer. His name is Cory Arcangel and his exhibition is based mainly on the transition of technology and the effects they may have on society. I was shocked to see in his piece of  Self Playing Bowling Games, how quickly the games' consoles grew from the Atari in the beginning to the GameCube which was much more advanced.

This trip was very exciting for me and I felt that after looking at Arcangels work and then being able to see it was  a great experience.

It was also a beautiful day and the outside of the gallery was perfect for it. So much so that I took a little video of all the duckies swimming about around the building and yes I felt the need to upload it so take a look for yourself. Please excuse the ending(Haha) I haven't bothered editing.

Stars that do Good

There are quite a few of celebrities that do charity work whether its a publicity stunt or not, I felt that maybe I could use my 'celebrity' status to do some good in the community some how.
First I want to look at others that do such things.




Seeing as I am just a poor student, I need to do some good in the community that won't involve a whole lot of money.

Stars with addictions!

One of the many stories that come out of the tabloids are mainly to do with stars and their addictions. These addictions can be from drugs to plastic surgery. And there's plenty of it.

This I feel is made so much harder with the pressure of the media who obviously thrive on the stories of stars that   have these problems because they make such good headlines and if they didn't we wouldn't buy and read these said magazines.
Here's a list of videos and photo of celebrities who gain media attention for all the wrong reasons.

Hasselhoff has now got a name for himself as being an alcoholic. This video is a disturbing image of man whose is completely drunk and humiliating the only difference is; this is David Hasselhoff. See a celebrity like this is exciting and also something that most people can relate to.


Charlie Sheen has recently gained media popularity because of his antics with his partying and his extreme rants online and in interviews. This video Charlie Sheen has set up for himself, this is one man who clearly enjoys the attention.


Amy Winehouse has never really hidden her addictions. Her first released single was about 'Rehab' and this is a video of her caught snorting on stage

And this is to just name a few.

I need to think of a way to present this to the public and find the message I want to bring across.

Next Statement of Intent

For my next project called 'Locate' I am carrying on with the theme of Fame because after completing it I still felt I had so much left that I could have put into the project. I feel the subject of Fame and the issues around it, have particularly engaged an intrigue for me. I would most definitely like to develop it further and look more the reasons of why people choose fame. Also the effects of becoming famous and how people use their celebrity status for either doing good or bad.

What I will take from my other project will be my alter-ego who will carry out all the different aspects of being famous instead of trying to be famous. So I will doing what celebrities do to keep themselves in the media, this could be either be positive or negative reasons.

I will continue using the blog to present my work and track what I have been doing and still gain as many viewers as I can. Using videos and photos to demonstrate the array of elements being famous may have. Turning these into posters and newsletter and creating general attention.

A new direction!

It's a new project but I'm sticking to my guns and trying a new direction and look into working more with other people rather than alone. No one got famous through being working alone. I need to get people on my side and a some good.

I have thought about bringing happiness to people and just bringing a smile. As corny as this sounds.
