MY VEIWINGS

Great/Bad News

I have my first official 'gig' and the ball is in motion for claims to fame and whatnot. Now I feel there really is no turning back.

Zara!

You're on - you've got a five minute slot on the 2nd February. Here's the event page in facebook:

We'll add you to that now and if there's any particular way you want to be introduced on the night or any information you can give me about the act that might help me write an introduction, reply to this as soon as you can.

All the big name comedians started out in the back room of pubs performing for a small but intimate audience, so hopefully this event will be exactly what you're after!

Let me know if there's anything else we can do for you - see you on the 2nd!

So now I have to get material.....
where do I begin?

The Great Thing about Facebook

I have just posted this blog on facebook and seems my views have doubled which proves my statement that the internet is a huge factor in making yourself known so much easier.

Keep the numbers coming people!

Making A Business Card

To put myself out there I need people to know about me or at least want to know about me. So I have taken it upon myself to make business cards which I will be distributing in and around my University and anywhere I can, so people will come to my blog and maybe begin talking.

I have decided on the pictures I will have which I have had my dear friend Tash Smith to do for me. These pictures I feel have a definite Annie Leibovitz-esque feel to them. So here they are

Front(of card)
Back

Hopefully these would catch someone's attention the second part is the information that I put on it that really is more important part. But that I will think about that one.

Update!

I have already recieved an email back about joining the UEA Headlight Comedy Society and I'm impressed with  the promptness.
Here was what was said;

Hi Zara,

I just read you blog and am absolutely in love with the project!

With regards to the Birdcage - Headlights aren't directly responsible, but it is a group of our members that run it, so I'll give them a quick text and see what I can do for you. Unfortunately, I do have the feeling the show is fully booked up in terms of acts. Like I say, I'll do my best, but if they can't do anything for you Headlights holds monthly nights on campus, we're planning a big Comic Relief show in March and we're even planning on going up to Edinburgh for the Fringe in August. It all depends how much you want to sign up to, really! I'd also be more than happy to ring round while I'm at it and see what other open mic nights are available if you've come up against a brick wall.

I'll get back to you tomorrow when I've got some slightly more concrete information for you!

Thanks for getting in touch,
Carl

Hey,

My name's Zara I'm not from UEA, I'm from the Norwich Uni of the Arts but I'm doing a project on fame and becoming famous.

And I have recently decided to slightly change the direction of the project and try my hand at a number of different talents one of them is comedy. I haven't really been able to find a lot of open mic night in Norwich which was my original plan however I've come across your little gang and was wondering if you would allow me to join in one night (2nd February) so I could maybe humiliate myself.
Please get in touch soon
Thanks

This is all very exciting and scary stuff but I've put myself out there now there's no going back.
Fingers crossed I can get myself an act!
